How would you describe your personal style?

l like to contrast feels, tough femininity, soft tomboy. Street style inspired

What's your current favorite piece in your closet?

Vintage silk three piece set - pants, culottes, tee

Who do you look up to for style inspiration?

Fellow instagram girls, fashion week street style

What inspired you to start shopping sustainably?

I first got into op-shopping at 16. I work in the fashion industry and as the topic of sustainibility has intensified over the years so has my interest in it.

Where are your favorite places to shop?

Charity stores, Depop, Vintage boutiques

You seem to have thrifted some pretty awesome pieces. Can you share some tips?

You have to go to many different stores and go often. Its just luck, somethings you can walk out with nothing and other times a giant pile! Check all rails, things can be hiding or put back in the wrong spot. Make friends with the staff, if they know the kind of things you like they can be likely to put them to the side for you.

Which ethical and sustainable brands do you like?

Im a fan of any brand attempting to make a change for the better. Specifically though - Saroka, Joslin, Nice Martin

What challenges do you think ethical shoppers face?

Price - not everyone can afford the higher price point. Accessibility - most are online and a lot of people aren't comfortable purchasing something they can't try on or physically see the quality. Navigating what is actually ethical and what is green washing.

Although we think sustainable fashion is a great practice, there is still a stigma attached to buying secondhand clothes and many still find it 'uncool'. What's your take on that?

I honestly don't get that. If anything I think people find it quite cool - they just don't feel like they have the time or the ability to do it. So many of my friends say "I never find anything good" or "can you please find things for me". With Facebook Market place gathering popularity I think people are getting used to the idea.

What would be your advice to someone who wants to become a more responsible fashion shopper?

You don't have to buy everything second hand. Start out by making small changes in ways you are comfortable - try Depop or Facebook marketplace or eBay for brands you know and are comfortable with first. Then try vintage boutiques - where the stock is hand picked and clean and presented in a traditional retail environment. Then move onto markets and secondhand stores.

One habit that anyone should embrace now.

Try preloved shopping!
